American News and Information Services Inc. is a Connecticut-based media company, first registered with the Connecticut Secretary of the State in 1989. Our company president, Edward A. Peruta, has been involved in the news and information gathering business since the mid-1970s. Among our services, we seek to obtain a primary video record of events which have or may have broad interest to the public at large, other news media organizations, and/or law enforcement or emergency personnel. In some instances, our duly authorized representatives are not only first on the scene, but the only members of the media present. By responding quickly and to a wide variety of events, including those not likely to attract the attention of major news outlets, we can often serve to extend the reach of these other news organizations by selling or licensing our images and video for their use on air, in print or online.
In recent years, we have all likely seen examples where individual citizens, equipped with nothing more than a video-capable mobile phone, have provided critical evidence relating to matters of significant National importance. The days of only three major news outlets are long gone and the definition of 'media' is changing faster than the technology which is being used to capture and transmit information worldwide.
While some of these video images capture a disturbing record of an abuse of authority by law enforcement or other officials, there have been many important images or video that have exonerated officials in their attempts to defend against false claims.
We will continue to pursue our mission in bringing you the news, either directly or through others with a wider reach who we often supply our work product. We sometimes refer to ourselves as 'AMNews' or the 'American News Network,' but our mission remains the same. While we are based in Connecticut, our efforts are not limited to the Nutmeg State. In fact, our efforts in California are those for which this site and the important legal challenge discussed was initially created.
